We have cut way back on our show schedule. However, we will do the Chicago Toy Show in April and October of 2010. The Chicago Toy Show (actually held at the Kane County Fairgrounds, about 30 miles from Chicago ), is one of the largest toy shows in the world. Club Member of the Year!

Steve Jacobs has been an active member of The Land of Mickey chapter since its inception in April 1992. He is a founding member of the group and has served in many capacities over the years. Steve wrote the first The Land of Mickey newsletter for many years as well as serving as Co-President with his wife Debby for two terms. He is currently Vice President in charge of membership.

Steve�s love of all things Disney comes from his passion for imagination and creativity that Walt developed so many years ago and still represents the company today.

Among his collectible treasures are over 200 Disney license plates and an extensive Disney Railroad/Carolwood/transportation memorabilia as well as many Disney theme park items. His most valuable treasures, however, are the many friendships that have developed and grown over the years as being part of The Land of Mickey.

Congratulations to Steve for being selected as our 2010 Chapter Member of the Year.

---- that a follow-up to 2001�s �Monsters Inc.� is in the works for release on Nov. 16, 2012. No further details were available, not even a title. Other tidbits from Ross: Another Pixar film, �Brave� will be out June 15, 2012. The Muppets movie coming out in late 2011 will feature a new Muppet named �Walter.� Again, no further details. Closest Supermarket to WDW is Closing ----

---- Goodings at the Crossroads, which is right across the street from the Downtown Disney hotels, is the closest grocery store to Walt Disney World. When it closes that honor will go to the Publix near the Gaylord Palms and HWY-192. There�s also a Publics in the Williamsburg area, which is just past SeaWorld on the Central Florida Parkway. If you want to go a little further there area also a couple of nearby Super Walmarts.

Your Land of Mickey Recipe :

Sweet Banana Bruschetta

Special Events Catering, Disneyland Hotel

Ingredients:

� Chocolate curls (optional)

� 1-1/2 teaspoons unsweetened cocoa powder

� 3 medium bananas, thinly sliced

� 2 tablespoons brown sugar

� 1 medium banana, mashed (1/2 cup)

� 6 1/2- to 3/4-inch thick slices sweet Hawaiian bread, egg bread, or raisin bread

� 1/4 cup tub cream cheese with pineapple

� Sifted powdered sugar (optional)

� 1 tablespoon butter or margarine, melted

Directions:

1. Toast bread and let cool

2. Combine mashed banana, cream cheese, and cocoa powder in a medium bowl. Spread some of the mixture over each toasted bread slice. Place slices on a cookie sheet.

3. Layer banana slices on top of cream cheese mixture. Brush bananas with melted butter or margarine. Sprinkle with brown sugar.

4. Broil bruschetta 4 to 5 inches from the heat for 30 to 60 seconds or until banana slices just begin to glaze.

5. To serve, sprinkle tops with sifted powdered sugar and garnish with chocolate curls, if desired. Serve immediately.

Makes 6 servings. ******************************************

Your Land of Mickey Recipe :

Chicken Noodle Casserole

An ESPN favorite for your Superbowl Sunday!!

Ingredients:

� 2/3 cup chopped onion

� 1 garlic clove, minced

� 1 tablespoon olive or canola oil

� 1 1/2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into 3/4-inch cubes

� 1 (14.5 ounce) can chicken broth

� 1 1/2 cups chopped carrots

� 3 celery ribs, chopped

� 1/2 teaspoon dried savory

� 3 tablespoons butter or stick margarine

� 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

� 3/4 teaspoon salt

� 1/8 teaspoon white pepper

� 1 1/2 cups 2% milk

� 1 1/4 cups shredded reduced-fat Cheddar cheese

� 8 ounces wide egg noodles, cooked and drained

Directions:

In a large nonstick skillet, saut� onion and garlic in oil until tender. Add chicken; cook and stir until no longer pink.
Add the broth, carrots, celery and savory. Bring to a boil.
Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 10-15 minutes or until vegetables are tender.
Meanwhile, in a saucepan, melt butter. Stir in the flour, salt and pepper until smooth. Gradually add milk. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened.
Remove from the heat; stir in cheese until melted. Pour over chicken mixture. Add noodles; mix well.
Transfer to a 3-qt. baking dish coated with nonstick cooking spray. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees F for 15-20 minutes or until bubbly

Disneyland Hotel to get long-overdue makeover ----

---- The long-anticipated renovation of the Disneyland Hotel will begin in phases in August and is scheduled to wrap up in time for the 2012 debut of Cars Land at Disney�s California Adventure. Built in 1955, the old and outdated hotel � which Disney euphemistically calls �historic� � has been showing its age for years. The major rehab features extensive interior and exterior facelifts and a complete infrastructure upgrade � including a much-needed overhaul of the plumbing, electrical, heating and air conditioning systems. Construction will proceed at one vertical half of a tower at a time � starting with the Dreams tower, which is scheduled to be completed by June 2010. The Magic and Wonder towers will follow. The hotel and all three towers will remain open throughout construction. Each renovated room will feature a flat-screen TV, wireless Internet connections and a Sleeping Beauty Castle headboard with a fiber-optic fireworks display.

Iger, 58, said he was behind the decision to turn Chief Financial Officer Tom Staggs into the parks and resorts chairman, while making parks chairman Jay Rasulo the new CFO. Staggs, 49, is well respected among Wall Street analysts and had been in his job for 11 years. Disneyland has now added �Audio Description� ----

---- to many of its attractions, a service Walt Disney World has been offering for a bit more than a year now. Disneyland Resort Guests with visual disabilities can now be more fully immersed into Disney attractions and storytelling through a new Audio Description service created by Disney engineers. The service, which launched Nov. 1, is enabled through wireless technology via a handheld device available to Guests visiting the Resort. �The Disneyland Resort welcomes millions of diverse visitors each year, and we are committed to making the Disney tradition of rich storytelling available to everyone,� said Betty Appleton, who oversees the Resort�s Guests with Disabilities program. �Audio Description supports our longstanding commitment to providing outstanding services to all Guests as it enables our visitors who are blind or have low vision to more fully enjoy our attractions.�

The largest expansion ever of the Magic Kingdom ----

---- will effectively double the size of Fantasyland by 2013. The first phase of this expansion involves the closing of Toontown, so that new areas can be built. In the first new area, there will be spots featuring Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and Belle. Also featured will be Beast's castle, which will include a new restaurant that will be counter service during the day and table service by night. Another part of the first phase of the expansion will be the doubling of Dumbo, and a new interactive, three-ring circus tent that will effectively eliminate queues for this popular attraction. In addition, you'll be able to journey under the sea with Ariel, The Little Mermaid, in her very own attraction (which will also open at Disney's California Adventure). The first phase of the expansion should be concluded in 2011. The second phase of the expansion, which should be finished by 2013, will be the construction of Pixie Hollow, featuring Tinker Bell and her fairy friends.

---- Disney Cruise Line guests who completed their online registration no longer have to present their credit card during check-in at the Port. If you have decided to use a different credit card than the one you used during the online registration, you will have to present that card at Port check-in

-- During the ongoing expansion and construction at Port Canaveral traffic patterns are subject to change. At this time, personal vehicles with guests who are sailing that day may enter the southernmost security gate for terminal drop-off. Parking is now quite a distance from the drop-off area, so keep that in mind when you decide who should park the car. If you are driving, but only dropping off those who are sailing, you can use the Number 3 Entry Area.

-- Platinum-tier repeat guests (those who have completed 10 or more DCL cruises) can check in at the concierge red carpet area. Platinum guests will receive a "Number 1" boarding group number. They will also be escorted to the security photo area so they do not have to wait in line.

-- Each stateroom currently receives a public health questionnaire to fill out at check-in. The form asks about symptoms within the past seven days. So far, no problems have been reported associated with H1N1 virus. In an effort to keep it that way, DCL encourages guests to answer the questions truthfully. Any guests answering "yes" to one or both of the health questions will meet with the ship's doctor or nurse before boarding to ensure their seaworthiness. Contrary to popular belief, a "yes" answer does not automatically disqualify a guest from sailing. It does give the ship's medical staff the opportunity evaluate the guest before sailing. All guests' safety is always the number one priority at Disney.

Son of a Beach! Two entertainment giants ----

---- have come together as Brian Wilson, the pioneering musical genius who co-founded the Beach Boys and wrote many of the band's greatest hits, has signed with Walt Disney Records. In the months ahead, Wilson will record two new solo albums for the label's Disney Pearl imprint, including one featuring covers of classic songs by great American songwriters, George and Ira Gershwin. For that recording, the Gershwin estate has given Wilson access to rare, unfinished pieces of music by George Gershwin, with which he will craft collaborative compositions unlike anything the world has seen. He will follow that with an album of classic Disney songs, which the artist promises to �Brian-ize� with his trademark vocal stacks and unique arrangements. Release dates for each album have yet to be determined.

Disney�s Key to the Digital Kingsom ----

---- The Walt Disney Company is expected to unveil a new technology called Keychest, designed to allow users to buy permanent, on-demand access to its content across multiple platforms. Keychest would rely on cloud computing, used for Web-based apps such as Google Docs, which stores files on remote servers that can be accessed from any device, as opposed to being downloaded to a computer. So, for example, with Keychest, when a user purchases a Disney movie, the user's accounts with other services, such as a mobile network carrier or video-on-demand cable provider, would show the content as available for viewing. This Is One Great Holiday Dessert!!

Oatmeal Crunch Apple Pie

Grand California Hotel - Disneyland

Ingredients:

1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup whole-wheat pastry flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons unsalted butter cold, cut into small pieces
2 ounces reduced-fat cream cheese
2 tablespoons canola oil
3 tablespoons ice water
3 Granny Smith apples medium, peeled and thinly sliced
3 medium McIntosh apples peeled and thinly sliced
1/2 cup light brown sugar packed
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 cup whole-wheat pastry flour
1/3 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
1/4 cup light brown sugar packed
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons unsalted butter cold, cut into small pieces
2 tablespoons frozen orange juice concentrate thawed
1/4 cup walnuts coarsely chopped

Directions:

To prepare crust: Whisk 1 cup all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup whole-wheat flour and 1/4 teaspoon salt in a medium bowl. Cut in 4 tablespoons butter and the cream cheese using a pastry blender or a fork until the mixture is pebbly. Add oil; stir until evenly moistened. Sprinkle water over the mixture; toss with a fork to combine. Knead the dough in the bowl a few times. Gather into a ball, press into a disk and wrap in plastic. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
Roll the dough into a 14-inch circle between 2 large pieces of parchment or wax paper. Peel off the top sheet and invert the dough into a 9-inch pie pan. Peel off the remaining paper. Press the dough firmly into the bottom and up the sides of the pan. Tuck the overhanging dough under, forming a double-thick edge. Crimp the edge with your fingers. Using a fork, prick the dough in several places. Refrigerate the crust for 15 minutes.
Position a rack in the lower third of the oven; preheat to 375�F.
Bake the crust for 15 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool, about 30 minutes.
To prepare filling: Combine apples, 1/2 cup brown sugar, lemon juice and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon in a large bowl. Let stand for 10 minutes. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour over the apples and toss again; mound the filling into the cooled crust. Coat the crust edges with cooking spray, return the pie to the oven and bake for 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, prepare topping: Combine 1/2 cup whole-wheat flour, oats, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and 1/8 teaspoon salt in a medium bowl. Cut in 2 tablespoons butter with a pastry blender or a fork until evenly distributed. Stir in orange juice concentrate and nuts.
After the pie has baked for 30 minutes, remove it from the oven and scatter the topping over the apples. Return it to the oven (covering the edges of the crust with foil if they're browning too quickly) and bake until the topping is golden and the juices are bubbling around the edges, 20 minutes more. Cool for at least 1 hour before serving.
