We must thank the California Prison Work Release Program. It's great to be entertaining again. It's just great to be out. Now we'd like to play our Mountain Music Medley. Come on, boys!"

Take the Disney Hollywood Studios quiz----

---- Disney's Hollywood Studios will mark its milestone 20th birthday. WDW’s third theme park emphasized the studio tour and production facilities, but has added notable thrill rides and shows over the past two decades. Here's a pop quiz — 20 questions, if you will — about the attraction formerly known as Disney-MGM Studios. HERE….  Thanks Dave!

Every theme park designer should know what's been done in the past.  Benchmarks and precedents are extremely important. With that in mind, you should learn the ten guidelines to theme park design developed by Walt Disney Imagineering President Marty Sklar.

Mickey's 10 Commandments

1. Know your audience - Don't bore people, talk down to them or lose them by assuming that they know what you know.

2. Wear your guest's shoes - Insist that designers, staff and your board members experience your facility as visitors as often as possible.

3. Organize the flow of people and ideas - Use good story telling techniques, tell good stories not lectures, lay out your exhibit with a clear logic.

4. Create a weenie - Lead visitors from one area to another by creating visual magnets and giving visitors rewards for making the journey

5. Communicate with visual literacy - Make good use of all the non-verbal ways of communication - color, shape, form, texture.

6. Avoid overload - Resist the temptation to tell too much, to have too many objects, don't force people to swallow more than they can digest, try to stimulate and provide guidance to those who want more.

7. Tell one story at a time - If you have a lot of information divide it into distinct, logical, organized stories, people can absorb and retain information more clearly if the path to the next concept is clear and logical.

8. Avoid contradiction - Clear institutional identity helps give you the competitive edge. Public needs to know who you are and what differentiates you from other institutions they may have seen.

9. For every ounce of treatment , provide a ton of fun - How do you woo people from all other temptations? Give people plenty of opportunity to enjoy themselves by emphasizing ways that let people participate in the experience and by making your environment rich and appealing to all senses.

10. Keep it up - Never underestimate the importance of cleanliness and routine maintenance, people expect to get a good show every time, people will comment more on broken and dirty stuff.

Disneyland has announced a few new offerings----

to entice us to California for our summer nights. (Like we need enticing!)

·        First is "Magical" - a new fireworks' spectacular where the fireworks are "actors" Music will be Disney tunes scored by Wishes composer Greg Smith. A few of the Disney "stories" featured will be: Pinocchio, Mary Poppins, Peter Pan and Dumbo flying over the castle (can't wait to see that!).

·        The Disney Electric Parade will be back in DCA with a few new features: namely, Tinkerbell will be leading the parade not the Blue Fairy.  The parade will also be updated to feature LED lights instead of the old incandescent bulbs.

·        Fantasmic will also be getting an update with some technical changes. Water projections will be in HD and Flotsam and Jetsam and Captain Hook's Nemesis Tick Tock the Crocodile will troll the Rivers of America. The biggest change will be the addition of a 40 foot fire breathing dragon

·        Pixie Hollow, will also get the magic treatment at night time where it will feature twinkle lights and fountains timed to music

It’s hard to express how talented Marc Davis ----

---- one of Walt’s Nine Old Men, was. You’ve no doubt seen his animation (Aurora, Maleficient, and Tinkerbell to name a few) and his concept art (Pirates, Country Bears, and Haunted Mansion are just the beginning), but you don’t really understand until you’ve seen his non-Disney drawings and paintings

Here is your chance to be amazed. Forest Lawn Museum in Glendale is presenting The Art of Marc Davis. For a little more background, Alice Davis talks about the exhibit in the Glendale Press.

The art show runs from May 8th through July 26th, 10:00am–5:00pm everyday except Mondays when the museum is closed. For more information, check the Forest Lawn website.

Mickey now owns----

---- 27% of Hulu.com - the online video viewing site (News Corp and NBC own the majority of the other shares).  Hulu is the number 3 video viewing site in the US .  There is no word yet as to what content will be provided on this site but I am hopeful that this is the online streaming model that Disney will go with - it has relatively few commercials and content is "free" and legal.

Your Land of Mickey Recipe :

 More for breakfast….

 Frittata with Sausage and Gruyere

Disneyland Hotel - Paris

INGREDIENTS:

1 teaspoon olive oil

6 ounces sweet sausage casing removed

1 1/2 tablespoons unsalted butter

8 large eggs, beaten

Coarse salt and freshly ground pepper

4 cups watercress leaves

3 ounces Gruyere cheese

1/2 cup ricotta cheese

PREPARATION:

1.    Heat oven to 425 degrees F. Heat olive oil in a 10-inch nonstick skillet with an ovenproof handle over medium-high heat.

2.    Add sausage and cook, breaking up the meat, until well browned, about 2 to 3 minutes.

3.    Using a slotted spoon, transfer sausage to a bowl; set aside. Discard fat, and wipe out skillet.

4.    Return skillet to medium heat; melt butter in it. Add eggs, sprinkle with salt, and cook until eggs begin to set on the bottom, about 10 seconds.

5.    Using a rubber spatula, pull edges into the center, tilting skillet so eggs fill the gaps.

6.    Sprinkle 1 cup watercress, sausage, Pecorino, Romano or Gruyere, and ricotta over eggs. Continue pulling the edges toward center.

7.     Cook until nearly set, about 4 minutes

8.    Transfer skillet to oven; bake until top is set and edges are golden brown, about 6 to 8 minutes.

9.    Sprinkle with pepper to taste, and serve immediately or at room temperature with remaining watercress

Yield: 4 servings.
